This project is a fork of the fontkit library, created for use in the pdf-lib project. It provides an advanced font engine for Node and the browser, with support for many font formats, advanced glyph substitution and layout features, glyph path extraction, color emoji glyphs, font subsetting, and more. The fork includes various improvements such as storing binary data as compressed base64 JSON, updating to Babel 7, building UMD and ES modules, bundling Node dependencies, accepting Uint8Array objects for font data, adding TypeScript declaration files, and removing calls to `new Function()` to allow usage on CSP sites.
