The **Appium iOS Driver** is a Node‑based automation backend that lets testers write Appium scripts to control iOS devices (simulators or real hardware) running iOS 8‑9.3 using Apple’s legacy UIAutomation framework. It is aimed at QA engineers and developers who need to automate native, hybrid, or mobile‑web apps on older iOS versions that are no longer supported by the newer XCTest‑based driver.
