postcss‑sprites is a PostCSS plugin that scans your CSS for individual image URLs, stitches those images together into one or more spritesheets, and rewrites the stylesheet to use the generated sprite with the correct background‑position values. It’s aimed at front‑end developers or build engineers who want an automated, configurable way to reduce HTTP requests and support retina or SVG sprites during their CSS build process.
