xar‑js is a Node‑based JavaScript library (with a CLI) that can read and write XAR archive files, the format formerly used to package Safari extensions. It lets developers script the creation, signing, and validation of *.safariextz* bundles—originally to automate Safari‑extension builds—though the technology is now deprecated since Safari no longer uses XAR archives. Suitable for web‑developers or build‑engineers who needed programmatic control over Safari extension packaging.
