node-webcrypto-ossl is a WebCrypto polyfill for Node.js that provides a WebCrypto API interface using OpenSSL as the cryptographic backend. It was created to enable developers to write crypto code that works consistently across both client and server environments, particularly before Node.js had native WebCrypto support. The project is now deprecated in favor of Node.js's built-in WebCrypto implementation (available since Node 16) and @peculiar/webcrypto.
