Laravel Elixir is a tool that provides a clean, fluent API for defining basic Gulp tasks in Laravel applications, supporting common CSS and JavaScript pre-processors. It was designed for Laravel developers who wanted an easy way to get started with asset compilation and Gulp. However, the project has been archived and users are now recommended to transition to Laravel Mix for similar functionality.
