**exec‑extra** is a Node.js library that extends the built‑in `child_process` API with cross‑platform, POSIX‑style conveniences such as shebang handling, shell‑script execution, and a large catalog of wrapped Unix commands (e.g., `cat`, `grep`, `awk`, `git`, etc.). It provides both promise‑based functions (e.g., `exec('cat', ['file'])`) and transparent monkey‑patching so existing `spawn`/`exec` code can run these commands on Windows, macOS and Linux, making it useful for developers who need reliable command‑line tooling inside JavaScript applications.
