Preact is a lightweight (≈3 KB) JavaScript library that implements the same modern component‑based API as React—including classes, hooks, JSX, SSR, and a compatibility alias—while using a highly optimized virtual‑DOM diff algorithm. It’s aimed at web developers who want React‑style development with far smaller bundle sizes and fast performance, especially for performance‑critical or resource‑constrained applications.
