metalsmith‑writemetadata is a Metalsmith plugin that extracts each file’s front‑matter (or any parsed metadata) and saves it as a separate JSON (or optionally YAML) file on disk, with configurable pattern matching, key filtering, and buffer encoding. It also supports exporting Metalsmith collections as structured JSON objects. The tool is aimed at static‑site developers using Metalsmith who need side‑car metadata files for downstream processing or indexing.
