SafeFS is a Node.js package that wraps file system methods to prevent EMFILE errors by limiting concurrent file operations. It enhances the standard fs methods with additional safety checks and provides utility functions like ensuring paths exist before writing. The project is now deprecated and users are directed to use the newer @bevry/fs-* packages instead.
