**prevent‑default** is a tiny JavaScript utility that normalizes calling `event.preventDefault()` across browsers (including old IE quirks). It exports a single `prevent(e)` function that safely stops the default action of a DOM event, defaulting to `window.event` when no argument is supplied. The library is aimed at front‑end developers who need a reliable, cross‑browser way to cancel events in client‑side code.
