This project provides an `extend()` method taken from jQuery 1.9.0 for use in PouchDB, specifically to ensure compatibility with Ember.js and IndexedDB. It was created to address issues with other extend libraries in these environments, though it is now deprecated as PouchDB includes its own `extend()` function.
