The npm/lifecycle repository is a standalone library for executing packages' lifecycle scripts, extracted from npm itself to ensure full compatibility with npm's script execution. It is intended for developers who need to programmatically run npm lifecycle scripts outside of the npm CLI, but is pending deprecation in favor of the newer @npmcli/run-script module.
