This project is a data visualization tool that analyzes words used to characterize fictional characters in English-language fiction from 1800-2007, extracted from 110,041 volumes using BookNLP. It divides word frequencies by the inferred gender of characters and authors to explore how gender-based characterization has evolved over time. The tool is intended for researchers and scholars interested in literary analysis, gender studies, and the historical evolution of characterization in fiction.
