The `vscode-nls` project is an npm module that supports externalization and localization of VSCode extensions, primarily for developers working on VSCode extensions. Although it is no longer receiving new features and has been replaced by the newer `vscode-l10n` library, it remains a useful tool for managing translations in VSCode extensions.
