The Matrix JavaScript SDK is a full‑featured client library for the Matrix open‑standard messaging protocol, written in TypeScript/JavaScript and usable in browsers or Node.js. It abstracts the Matrix client‑server API, handling syncing, room and user state, message sending (with local echo, retries and pagination), presence, typing indicators, WebRTC calls and optional end‑to‑end encryption via the Rust‑crypto WASM bindings, making it the core building block for Matrix‑based apps such as Element’s web and desktop clients.
