`hostile` is a Node.js library and CLI tool for programmatically reading and editing the system **hosts** file (`/etc/hosts` on Unix, `C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts` on Windows). It lets developers list, add, remove, load, or unload hostname‑to‑IP mappings from scripts or the command line—useful for testing, development, or blocking sites without manually editing the file.
