**macaca‑istanbul** is a JavaScript code‑coverage tool that instruments Node.js (and browser‑served) code to track statement, branch, and function coverage, then generates reports in HTML, LCOV, Cobertura, etc. It’s aimed at developers who want to add coverage to unit‑test runs or monitor server‑side code without modifying their test framework, and can also be used as a library or middleware. (Note: this version is deprecated in favor of the actively‑maintained Istanbul 2.x package.)
