This project is a workaround for installing packages from Git repositories in older versions of npm, addressing the issue that npm doesn't run the `prepublish` script when installing from Git URLs. It's designed for developers who need to install and build packages from Git repositories that require a build step, such as private packages or packages not yet published to npm.
