This project provides a cross-platform solution for Node.js's `spawn` function, addressing issues with Windows compatibility such as handling `PATHEXT`, shebangs, and proper argument escaping. It is a drop-in replacement for Node's native `spawn` and is designed for developers needing reliable process spawning across different operating systems. Note that this module is deprecated in favor of `cross-spawn`, which no longer requires a build toolchain.
