http‑basic is a lightweight Node.js library that wraps the built‑in `http.request`/`https.request` APIs, adding convenience features such as automatic gzip handling, redirect following, request timeouts, retry logic, and pluggable caching (in‑memory or file‑based). It is aimed at developers who need a simple, low‑level HTTP client with configurable behavior without pulling in a full‑featured request library.
