:id: Reads the machine's serial number (a.k.a. service/asset tag) or Amazon EC2 instance-id
The **serial-number** package is a small Node .js library (and CLI tool) that retrieves a computer’s hardware serial number—Dell service tag, asset tag, or, on Amazon EC2 instances, the instance‑ID. It works across Linux, macOS, Windows and FreeBSD, falling back to the system UUID when a serial isn’t available, and is aimed at developers or system‑administrators who need a programmatic way to uniquely identify the host machine.
