This is the client library for Engine.IO, a transport-based cross-browser/cross-device bi-directional communication layer used by Socket.IO. It provides a lightweight WebSocket-like API that works seamlessly across browsers and Node.js, supporting features like binary data transfer, automatic transport fallback, and WebWorker integration.
