Standard Version is a command‑line tool (and Node library) that automates semantic version bumps, Git tagging, and CHANGELOG generation based on Conventional Commits. It’s aimed at JavaScript/Node projects – and any repo that can follow the Conventional Commits spec – allowing developers to replace `npm version` with a single `standard-version` (or `npm run release`) command that updates version fields, creates a changelog, commits the changes, and tags the release.
