`userid` is a tiny native Node.js addon that wraps the POSIX `getpw*` and `getgr*` calls, letting JavaScript code look up a user’s UID/GID or resolve a UID/GID back to a username/group name. It’s intended for server‑side Node applications running on Unix‑like systems that need fast, low‑level access to system account information.
