JSON version of the programming language map used in Linguist

language‑map provides a ready‑to‑use JSON dictionary of programming languages and their metadata (type, aliases, file extensions, colors, ace mode, etc.), derived from GitHub’s Linguist language definitions. It’s packaged as an npm module so developers building tools—such as syntax highlighters, file‑type detectors, or language‑aware editors—can quickly look up language details without parsing Linguist’s YAML source.
